Case Study | Solar Installation for W&J Brown, Largs
Eco Vision Energy recently completed a solar PV installation for W&J Brown, a well-known local milk and newspaper delivery business based in Largs.
The system consisted of:
- 28x 440W JA Solar panels
- 2x Solis 4.6KW inverters
- 1x Solis export power manager
Totalling 12.32KWp, this system was designed to reduce electricity bills and support the business’s switch to electric vehicles. The installation was mounted using Clenergy’s spike and rail system, ideal for their cement fibre roof.
W&J Brown operate 7 days a week across Largs and Fairlie, with extended delivery routes to Millport, Inverkip, Wemyss Bay, and West Kilbride. Their electric van is charged daily at their premises after the morning round, using power generated directly from the solar panels. Surplus electricity is automatically exported to the grid—earning them payments for energy they don’t use.
In just one sunny week this April (1st–7th), the system generated 359.9kWh, saving the business over £70 on their energy bills. And that’s not including their export payments!
To provide additional peace of mind, we also installed a changeover switch and generator hook-up. With the property prone to occasional power cuts due to overhead lines, this ensures W&J Brown can keep operating even during outages.
